Daniel Cheetham
Founder and CEO
Born and raised in rural Cornwall, UK, Daniel grew up surrounded by the countryside before moving to Brighton to study Computer Science at University. After a short start of a career in consumer finance ended after facing two layoffs in as many years, he found his way into the world of staffing and headhunting in 2010.
The first chapter of Daniel’s career saw him establish a from-scratch division for a recruitment consultancy in the UK, growing a high-performing team focused on European recruiting into Biometrics within life sciences.
In 2015, life took an unexpected turn when Daniel suffered a spinal cord injury after falling from a 40ft window. He had to start over, initially in a wheelchair, relearning how to walk. After spending most of that year in hospital and rehabilitation, Daniel embraced the opportunity for a fresh start returning to work in 2016 by volunteering to lead the growth of another new division. This time in the USA.
Quickly building a strong client and candidate network, by early 2017 Daniel made the leap across the pond to plant the flag in Boston, Massachusetts. Over the following years he grew the US business, which at its peak was over 30 people, establishing three offices across different states and generating tens of millions in revenue.
Daniel's latest chapter began in 2025 when he took the knowledge and experience gained over 15 years to launch his own organization, Astera Search. Now living in Boston with his wife, whom he met in 2019 and married in 2022, Daniel is excited to bring his passion for recruitment and life sciences to this new venture.
